My Path of Inspiration ~ Part 2
High school came along & my dad decided he wanted to start joining some family friends, including Brian & Jackie, to Catalina. Not Avalon, this is a place on the north east side of Catalina called Emerald Bay. So beautiful! We'd charter a boat at Dana Point Harbor & sail over to the island. It could take up to about 9 hours but the sailing was lovely. The snorkeling is wonderful. -Especially right by the rocks. This is when I discovered how amazing it was to just put on my bikini & jump off the boat into the water in the morning! -One of my biggest joys in the world.
over to your neighbors! Aside from snorkeling & swimming we'd ride around in our dinghies, kayak, go hiking, take mini trips to the isthmus for groceries. If you were feeling like you could handle the chill then you'd jump off the boat at night where you'd be surrounded by bioluminescence. Bioluminescence - the biochemical emission of light by living organisms such as fireflies and deep-sea fishes. Nighttime was very magical, as the stars were all out & you could see the glow from the mainland of California. It always reminded my sister, Brynley & I of Peter Pan or Pirates of the Caribbean. -The ride at Disneyland as the movies had yet to come out yet.
These trips were very special. I wish I had gone on more but I was establishing my independence like the defiant teenager I was so that's all on me.
It became even more special when I could share these trips with my now husband, Matt. He does get seasick but after the first day he's pretty much fine. I loved that he found the place just as incredible as I did. Snorkeling, kayaking, hiking are all things that he enjoys doing too.
We continued these trips until just a few years ago but hopefully can go back to doing them again sometime soon.
Thanks for reading!
