YouTube Cruising Sailors that Inspire Us!

Until we get our own YouTube channel, (which I'll have to see if there will be any demand for or if I'll be able to figure out just how to create one), I've decided to put the 6 channels of sailing vlogs that we watch on a regular basis.

Riley & Elayna from La Vagabonde.

1. If you've ever watched a cruising/sailing couple, you've probably seen Sailing La Vagabonde. They were my first introduction into these types of YouTube videos. I found them through my friend, Jenn, who knew someone that they interviewed in one of their episodes & shared it. The whole idea of sailing around the world just seemed amazing to me & was one of the most interesting things I liked watching. That was back in like... 2015? I don't know. But I've been hooked ever since. The Australian couple: Elayna & Riley are fun & produce high quality videos once a week. Brian, Kazza & their little nugget, Sierra, on their boat, Delos.

2. So once I got Matt hooked on watching La Vagabonde, he came across SV Delos. Having started with 2 brothers sailing from Washington State down to the South Pacific, it has developed many times over. Brian is now married to Kazza & they have a little girl. -Who is getting acclimated to sailing & seeing the world from the beginning of her life. They have actually circumnavigated the globe & looks like they might be about to re-sail it all again! Here's the link to Delos's YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/c/svdelos

Nick & Terysa on their boat, Ruby Rose.

3. I then found these two: Nick & Terysa on Ruby Rose. They were on a 38' monohull but are now waiting for their new catamaran to be built. Nick is from England & Terysa's from Australia. Nick is so informative about technical stuff. If you want to know what tools to bring along on a sailing journey, he's the guy to watch. I think it was Terysa's job to start making YouTube videos & so glad she did. They are put together so well! She has a great eye for cinematography. Desiree & Jordan in front of their boat, Atticus.

4. Since Matt was a little overwhelmed by people sailing around on bigger or a more apt way of putting it would be to say more expensive boats. I found Project Atticus. Desiree & Jordan bought a bare bones, 30' boat from the 1960s for $5,000 & fixed it up. These two really put their time in & are so knowledgeable for it! After cruising around the Caribbean for a while they realized that they needed to get a new boat to move on to the South Pacific & Beyond. So, as of now, they are putting last minute touches on their new 40' Pacific Seacraft to keep their dream alive. Ryan & Sophie on their boat, Polar Seal.

5. I remember thinking about water-makers & was wondering if there was a less expensive way to obtain one. That's when I came across a video of Ryan showing how he installed a water-maker using a sort of kit. It was very informative so I watched some more videos & really found them to be entertaining & helpful. Sophie is from France & is pretty hilarious; not to mention a great cook from what I can tell. I definitely relate to her sense of humor. Ryan is from the U.S.A. is so good at explaining all the technicalness of living on a boat. They met living in Sweden & really do a great job at balancing the fun & not so fun occurrences involved with sailing throughout the world. Peter & Tom's boat, Bohemia, in Mexico.

6. It was surprisingly hard to find videos of people sailing along the coast of California & then on to Mexico. Kind of discouraging as this is our plan. We actually would find a few here & there but none were very good quality, or interesting or informative. Luckily I found Peter & Tom! They left San Francisco on their 36' monohull, Bohemia & have made it down the coast & throughout the Sea of Cortez & now are making their way further down the coast of Mexico. So thankful to have found these guys! I'm bummed that we won't be able to catch up with them but am so glad that they decided to film their adventure! Very inspirational! So those are the people that we are constantly watching for entertainment, information but mostly for inspiration. They are all really good at what they do & I'm happy that they decided to share their lives with others!

Thanks for reading!
