4 Months: So Far Away/So Little Time
Well, we have been hustling for a while now. It’s hard to stop & relax though, because there is always stuff to do. My mom always tells me that we should take breaks to have some fun. However, I figure, the fun will come after we leave on our voyage. On the other hand, I know that we should take time to enjoy part of each day. -Easy to say but not easy to practice.
However, Matt’s friend, Allan, his wife Jen & their 2 girls: Hailey & Emily, came out from Texas & we actually took the whole time off that they were here. -Mainly because they threatened us that if we didn’t hang out with them the whole time that they’d just bring a ton of people over to party at our house if we didn’t.
I don’t think we’ve seen them since our wedding back in 2008! It’s crazy though, it didn’t feel like it had been that long.
We had so much fun! Hiked through UCSC, ate too much at some good restaurants, sailing -although there was no wind but there also weren’t any waves & we made it back without anyone puking! Going to the Boardwalk & shopping were also involved.
It went by too fast & we were really sad to see them go. We definitely can’t let another 15 years go by before we see each other again!
On the pier for our last night together.
We did make it on the boat, after all the friend fun, to figure out a few things that needed to be done. -Mostly stanchion stuff. Plus, we wanted to check our internet capability. We know it won’t be the same when going by some places on the coast & in Mexico but we have a good start.
We’ve gotten some painting done this last week. The cracks have disappeared! I still need to finish up & do the color wash in the living room. Very excited though. We will soon be able to take photos to advertise to rent out our house.
Only a few more rooms to go….
There has been magic going on at our Airbnb. For the 2nd year in a row, there are baby hummingbirds that have hatched & are growing! So amazing to watch! Don’t worry, I have resisted the urge to reach out & pet them. They’re pretty cute though. Below is the transformation:
Bittersweet -as they’ll be flying away soon!
And there’s a new video up on YouTube this week. Not sure how to describe it but check it out & see what you think.
Yay! So we got some work done & we got to get away from that & have some fun! Thanks again to Allan, Jen, Hailey & Emily for “forcing” us to get out & enjoy our town. 😁 We miss them but it would be way to easy to forget about our adult responsibilities if they were always here.
Thanks for reading! Who knows what this next week will bring? Hopefully, completion of a few more projects. Until then, remember to stop & smell the roses or hang out with those you love, or stare into a hummingbird’s eyes.
