A Plethora Of Piñatas
The title of this week’s blog has nothing to do with any content. I just wanted to put it in the blog because it’s fun, it’s intriguing & it’s from one of my favorite movies. -Also one of my sister’s. So I’ll dedicate this blog to her. Here’s to you, Brynley!
We got a chunk of stuff done this last week. Didn’t actually make it out sailing. It was a boat work & “get ready” work week for us.
One big thing that we got done was reserving our space for next year, when we dry dock our boat for about 6 months! It’s such a relief to have something already done for the end of our 6 month voyage. Hopefully, we’re averting a big stress that a lot of people might experience when cruising & needing to haul out their boat -in a place that’s unknown to them.
I have also set up a tentative itinerary for us. -Much less hectic than what I originally dreamt up. -Well, hopefully. Very fun, as it makes the adventure seem more real. -Like it’s actually going to happen!
When we did get to the boat on Thursday, Matt re-set up the tarp. We want to get an idea of what we can do when we’re anchored out. A bimini is still needed for when we are cruising but the tarp will be nice for getting shade at different ports.
Zephyr told Matt that it would be a good idea to practice getting up the sun shade for that day.
Matt installed the new starter battery. We now have all new batteries! -We just need to get the solar sorted out so we get energy via the sun into those batteries. -In addition to having to run the motor for them or hooking up at a marina.
He also tested the new router with dual sim LTE modem (and happy with it so far). The real test will be when we’re away from our home port.
We used up all the water in our tanks so Matt took advantage of that & cleaned the small fresh-water tank while empty. Unfortunately cleaning the larger tank is more like a surgical procedure. But I supposed we should get to it soon.
Yes, not much Matt can’t do.
I deep cleaned the teak with vinegar & put teak oil on it. It didn’t really have mildew but I wanted to clean it with vinegar anyway as a preventative measure. Only got a tiny bit done, as it takes a while. I’ll be done before we leave though. -Okay it’s not quite that time consuming. 😄 But it’ll take a few more visits until the whole interior is re-stained with teak oil.
Matt removed my least favorite being in the kitchen. -The butcher block & it’s matching backsplash. Trust me, it was a being. I swear it mocked me every time I tried to make it look clean. We are making the space nice for our future renters. Because they deserve better than us. -Praying they are just that amazing! I mean we do set the bar high.
Excited for the next step - getting the counter-top put on.
We have a new YouTube video out! Matt shares his wisdom on replacing a stanchion. Ours was bent & due for a replacement. The link is underneath the photo below.
Click like & subscribe when on our video page. -Unless, you can’t stand us. Actually, just do it anyway, even if you can’t stand us. Good karma will come your way!
So it was a full week! I’ll admit I did have a bit of a freak out about the house being ready to rent out. -Actually just to be ready for photos to put in the ad. It feels so far away from getting to that point. It helped though, to voice my stress to Matt. He was able to assure me that it would all get done. For the most part, it just helps to vocally express the stress. -Feel free to share those words of wisdom! You don’t really need therapy. -You can just read our blog!
Thanks for reading! Visit next week when we make our way down to SoCal for The Ensenada Boat race!
