Thankfully Matt is still plugging along & getting everything in ship-shape so that we don't have to repeat this hell of removing the galley again. Zephyr & I are basically there for moral support. -As all we can do is clean the deck, replace a dodger cover snap & watch him. Well, I'd like to think that Zephyr would be helping if he had opposable thumbs.
Pulley system.
Drill work.
Innards around the motor.
Do I even know what Matt has done in the last few weeks? Kind of.... connecting the water heater completely, fix some wiring, figuring out a leak, performing heart surgery..... I try to comprehend all of this but I think right now it's all a wash in my brain. What I do know is that your average person -actually above average person, wouldn't know how to do what he is doing. I should just get him a wizard hat right now!
?
I am scheming & dreaming though of organizing MerSea back into having company over shape. I am also planning how to fill this blog up next week if nothing has changed. Maybe I'll start a novel about a couple who sails out of Santa Cruz & travels the world. And then we can see if we can fill that manifesto.
Anyone inspired out there to buy an older sailboat?! Did I mention that we haven't had our galley in place since November? You have to really want this. You have to have a sense of humor. And you have to have patience. -Which I'm reeeeaaaallllyy trying to work on. Or you have to have an endless supply of money to pay people to take this stuff out of your experience.
Patience mainly comes with finding parts & then waiting for them to arrive; if they have to be sent. It also comes into play when other problems appear when you are working on just the "one" problem. A lot, not all issues, relate to safety or being comfortable. So it's not like you can ignore them. I really like things to be aesthetically pleasing too but I've thrown that out the window right now because I just want to sail & leave! I'll design & decorate when we are in Mexico.
I definitely want to stay positive. All we can really do is laugh about the absurdity of putting ourselves through this. We do know we are lucky to have the choice of even venturing into fixing up a boat to sail.
So wish us luck this week! I'll hopefully have wonderful news to share next Wednesday!
