Baby, It’s Cold Outside! So Let’s Work On The Boat When It’s Warmer.
I have failed you! I very much apologize. I don’t like letting down anyone who supports us. No, I did not get to the harbor this last week. There are tons of excuses but none of them good. If you really want to know, ask Zephyr. We substituted a lot of walks this week with indoor exercise. -Luckily we have a very long living room! The wind chill made the weather feel like it was 10 degrees outside. That is all I have to say to you, the jury.
What could possibly be taking up our time outside of obsessing on our boat? Well, Matt has been remodeling parts of the apartments he manages. Yes, he does the physical work on these & they turn out amazing! It takes a while. He does have a helper -who goes by the name of Matthew. Yeah, I know. Ask me how many Matt’s are in our realm… No, don’t. So thank you, Matthew, for your work too! -In addition to making all the tedium more fun for my husband.
I do the designing. -Unfortunately there’s a budget. So they aren’t as glamorous or unique as I might be inclined to design. But I like to do something that will look classy & appeal to people with good taste.
Below I’ve put a few examples of the work that goes on outside of MerSea.
Downtown Loft Apartment
The 1st 3 photos are before shots. I should have gotten more. But believe me, it’s a huge improvement. Matt & I used to live here before we moved into our current house & we are even tempted to move back!
Beach Apartment
Top photo is hopefully, obviously a before photo.
Closet Turned Shower!
What I don’t have, is a photo of the previous way of bathing yourself in this apartment. It was to crawl into a 4 foot tub where you had to sit with a handheld shower head. -It was located under the stairs. I guess when they divied up these apartments, they thought that if a person in the Victorian Era can do it, so can anyone that wants to live in an old Victorian. I thought the place might have more appeal if there was a stand-up shower. Anyone can get a portable closet to bring into the apartment.
I’ve actually been at home getting rid of stuff by either selling it, donating it to the Goodwill, donating it to the neighborhood, or throwing it out. We plan on renting our place out while we are gone for 6 months. So there is a ton of stuff that we cannot store in the garage & that we just have to say goodbye to. I know this isn’t happening until 9 months from now but you’d be surprised at what fits into all the nooks & crannies of a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house.
It feels like I’ve barely gotten rid of anything. Although I think we’ve parted with the amount of stuff you could fit into a small swimming pool. -No, not a kiddie pool! Need any Halloween decor, an okay flat screen tv, 36 red votive candle holders or an old style but brand new AM/FM radio? Send me a message & let me know.
Maybe in order to motivate myself to actually work on boat stuff while on the boat is to put a photo below of the kind of place we’ll be able to eventually get to if we get nautically inclined to do projects.
Zephyr Montage:
Truthfully though, I do plan on going to see MerSea tomorrow. -Which technically will be today; if you are reading this the day it comes out. I definitely want to clean her up for my parents visit. -Yes, Mom & Dad, you are hearing it first here: You will be staying on the boat, while we are at home, by the fire, in our house, at night. Merry Christmas!!!
Of course I’m kidding. They will be staying in an igloo in our backyard!
Wishing you all the happiest of holidays! Thanks for reading! I’ll be back next week to re-cap 2022 or give a preview of what’s to come in 2023. Or neither! It’ll be as much a surprise to me as to you!
