Saying Hasta La Vista To Our Amigos
We added 3 rocks to the garden so that our dockmates won’t forget us!
We’ve been scrambling to meet up with our friends before we leave. Thanks to Karen & Scott for taking us out last Wednesday for an evening cruise with a bunch of dock neighbors! We will miss you: Karen & Scott, Sandy & Glen, Shirley & Phil, Sven & Lori, Heddy & Scott, Marilyn & Wally, Jennie & Bill, Gary, Frank, Mary, Margo & Dan, Rich & Linda, & Andy! -And to any others we didn’t really get to know. Oh, and to all the doggies Zephyr had the pleasure of playing with: Ginger, Ohana, Ziggy, Bijou, Ziggy & Rico! Oooh, we will really miss our dock community! We couldn’t have asked for a better one!
And thanks to all the friends that we’ve had dinners, lunches, breakfasts & coffees with in the last month. So good to see everyone before we take off.
The frustrating thing is that I thought I was back to health & then last night I came down with a sore throat. At least my head is draining. All I can do is laugh at how obnoxious this whole thing with my health right now is. The way I’m trying to look at it, is that my body is strengthening my immune system before our trip. Hopefully, I’ll be good for a year now!
Getting back into the swing of boat life is coming along. No more home showers. Zephyr had to accompany me to the marina shower here the other day. He was completely fine; as long as he didn’t have to join me!
It’s all about organizing the boat now. Trying to get it cleaned up so that we have places to sit & move around. We’re getting there. I’ve given up on trying to make it look stylish. Maybe I’ll be able to conquer that when we’re in Mexico.
Want to take just 2 hours to make your bed?! Get a small boat where you sleep in the v-berth! So delightful! Thankful for podcasts! 🤪
This morning we headed out under the bridge at 5:30 AM. Could this really be the last tabernacle we grit our teeth through?! That would be lovely! One the other hand, it might be useful during a lightening storm.
And now we are in the south harbor, free to leave whenever we want without having to worry about the tides. Moving forward, all we have to do is negotiate with the weather. In reality though, the weather is more like a king & we just have to obey him. On the other hand, I think I’ll look at it more like we are Mary Poppins & will leave when the wind changes.
Another short video is out. Will it be the last one shot in Santa Cruz this year?!
So here we are! We’ve passed the, “getting some of our work taken care of”, phase. -The “renting out our house & all the stuff that goes along with that” phase. -The “moving onto the boat full-time” phase. And now we are in the “left our slip & in the south harbor, free of the bridge phase”!
This whole adventure, we are embarking on, feels a little more real with each phase we complete. It probably won’t hit me that we are actually doing this until we set sail.
Thanks for reading! Next time you join us on the blog we may be south of Santa Cruz! I mean, that’s what we’re hoping for. Let’s hope. Let’s really hope & pray & do a dance for perfect sailing weather to head south!
