We Graduated From Our First Sailing Class!

Greece, July 2017

I had a video of us just after our class but I guess this blog doesn't allow videos so I just put up a picture of us on a boat instead.

Very stoked that we can move on to intermediate sailing next. Wasn't sure if we were actually going to learn anything new in this class but we did. And all the stuff we did already know we just got better at. Plus, balancing on these small tippy boats is a lot harder than the larger boats we're used to.

So thankful for my husband, Matt, who is just as excited to be involved in sailing as I am. Hoping that he eventually wants to sail around the whole world & not skip the big oceans but we'll see. I'm willing to compromise so that we're both happy. Lucky to have someone who shares a lot of the same dreams as I do. We do have a lot that we don't agree on. He would like to see more of California since he grew up in Texas. But I feel like I've pretty much explored as much of California as I want, with the exception of Death Valley, because I grew up in this state. Plus, I want to just be on the water & live on a boat! It's probably going to be give & take on both our parts. That's okay though. We have a lot of fun together. Although, it's going to be interesting with two skippers in the family.

Oh, & as for the O'neill boat damage that I thought I may have caused, it turned out to be okay & just the paint from out boom on the other boat. So that was easily washed off! Phew! I'm still glad that our instructor, Rusty, was really calm about the whole thing. Maybe he's seen it a lot worse!

What's next? Well, we have our next set of classes in August. Until then, we can take boats out in the harbor. -I can practice not hitting other boats. And we can join the club & go out with other sailors on bigger boats. We'll definitely make time for that. And next month we'll be on a boat on a French river but it's not a sailboat. There will be locks on the river & we will be able to learn about that in practice for when we eventually go through the Panama Canal someday. -Yes! It's an optimistic day for me!

If you're reading this, I hope you are starting to realize your dreams little by little also.
