And A One, Two, Three…:December 5th - 9th, 2024
Getting settled in San Evaristo
Well, we did stop at Los Gatos again, but it was so rolly, all we wanted to do was hunker down in the v-berth & wait it out until morning. And we did. However, the swell seemed to still be there in the morning. I checked all the weather forecasts & it looked like a day we could pick up & continue south. So we left a little late, but we got out of there & started to relax as we sailed towards San Evaristo.
We got to San Evaristo late in the day. The wind & waves were really picking up by the time we pulled into the anchorage. Luckily, we found a perfect little spot between 2 boats & set the anchor. Ah, the protection of a good anchorage from wind & waves is the best! -Especially if it’s beautiful too! Very excited that we could hang out there a whole day before we had to take off again.
The following morning, I jumped into the water & showered in the cockpit. Yes, it was pretty damn cold but the weather was pretty warm that it was worth it.
We then went to shore with Zephyr & walked down the beach. It seemed so empty compared to when we were there in January 2024. -Almost deserted.
In fact, the 2 other boats that were in the anchorage when we got there took off in the morning. -Which always makes me a little wary. -Like they know something we don’t & we should have gotten out while we could. But the whole day was nice & we definitely got the relaxation & rest we needed before heading out in the morning to Caleta Partida.
The town & anchorage of San Evaristo
It was so beautiful the next morning. Kind of hard to be leaving but needed to make it to La Paz in about 2 days. The winds would be making their 40 knot plus appearance & we definitely wanted to be in a marina at that time.
We were lucky enough to be able to sail again. And, and…Matt was lucky enough to catch his biggest fish yet. -A humongous Dorado! I have no idea how he even got it on the boat! We were so thankful for it! I forget how many nights it fed us for but we even got to give some of it away to friends!
Fun sailing day!
Matt’s huge catch! - 42 inch Dorado!
I was so excited to get to Caleta Partida! I was sick last time we were there in January of 2024. I thought that the first thing I would do would be to jump in the water. However, it wasn’t as warm as I had hoped it would be in the late afternoon & then there’s the issue of how to get my hair dry. 4pm is way too late for this kind of adventure for me. Matt went snorkeling though. I think he saw quite a few rays or skates in the water.
After Matt got back & was getting himself dried off, a guy named Drew came over & invited us to his boat, Bandit, for some drinks & some snacks that evening. Of course we said yes & went over to meet him, his wife, Andee & a few other people. So fun! I can’t even remember how long we stayed but I think it was quite a while because Zephyr wasn’t too happy when we got home. Although, he never really is happy with us leaving. If we want to make ourselves feel good, we leave him for like 10 minutes & come back & he worships us like the gods we are!
The lovely little bay of Caleta Partida.
Bummed that we had to leave in the morning but we love La Paz so not too too sad. It’s hard though, when you meet cool people, to have to take off the very next day.
And yes, of course, we have a video out for you! Click below to take a watch!
Yep, we’ve settled back in to our cruising life. Got off to a rough start but we are reaping the rewards now!
Beware of the Floof!
