Sailing Lessons, Signs and Studying

On the bow during class.

So we've taken the first weekend in our 2 weekend class for Coastal Cruising. I did better than I thought I would! We definitely learned a lot more than we did in our Basic Keelboat class. Maybe it was because we had a better instructor or maybe it was because a lot of it was repetitive. Probably both though. All I know is that I'm more obsessed with my sailing dream that I was previously. -Which is making things really hard as the proper sized boat for our cruising dream is out of our budget right now. Oh well, at least we have our little dinghy boat to keep us occupied until then. We are definitely lucky to have anything at all right now.

Zephyr & his Daddy tuckered out after Daddy goes sailing.

As far as signs go I got plenty of them after I stopped manic manifesting. -Which is a term that Gabby Bernstein uses. It basically means that I was trying to hard to get signs for every little question & wouldn't really listen to the answers that I was given or just was obsessed about getting the right sign. When I surrendered this all to God or the Universe I got signs aplenty pouring in. -Mainly from a song I hadn't previously heard before that played first thing on my iPod 2 days ago. The song is "Creating a Dream", by Xavier Rudd. It speaks of having patience while creating a dream. This is what I really struggling with. Patience has always been my Achilles heel. Anyway, it's a really beautiful song & it was like God was speaking directly to me through this song. I feel like I'm being guided.

Matt & I are also studying for our first ASA class, which was the first class we took last year but that we didn't take the written test for. Terminology is quite intense & we have gotten giggles studying with each other as a lot of it is not intuitive. Some of these terms have been around forever & have no resemblance of what sailing involves today. Hopefully we can take it soon & get our ASA 101 certificate.

One last thing is that I just saw almost the exact boat I would want to get, if we didn't get the catamaran, a Catalina 36 MK. It's a monohull but its super nice & is just 2 feet short of the absolute ideal Catalina that I would choose. The thing that makes this somewhat hard to deal with is that it's available here in Santa Cruz. A slip in Santa Cruz is insanely hard to get. Being a Catalina in our harbor makes this so perfect! However, it's not in our budget right now. So I will just have to wish the people who do end up owning it to get the most fun out of it ever! We will just have to wait until it is our turn. -Hoping that isn't too extremely far in the future.
